Reception Room

Welcome to the Fragonard Museum of Perfume.

While you admire the beautiful decor of this reception room, allow me to tell you a little bit about the history of the Fragonard Brand and the stunning place you are in.

Fragonard is a French house of perfumery founded in 1926 in the city of Grasse located in the south of France. We are a family-owned business and nowadays, three sisters are at the head of the Fragonard Company. Jean-François Costa, the father of our actual owners, was a major art collector, and in 1983, he decided to showcase his collection to the public. To that end, he chose this beautiful 19th century building, imagined by Joseph Michel de Soufaché, a student of Charles Garnier, famous architect of the opera situated right across the street. In fact, during the second Empire, Napoleon III appointed the prefect of the Seine, the Baron Haussmann, with the task of modernizing Paris. Look around you, the moldings, the gold-leaf trims are a fine example of how a reception room looked like under the second empire, as well as the painted ceiling above you, which was restored in 2018 to its original splendor.

We can now move to the next room which is also typical of the 19th century, and scan the QR code located to your right in the doorway.
